Concept Art Association welcomes Gnomon Founder and President Alex Alvarez as a judge in its first-ever Concept Art Awards.

We here at Gnomon love to nurture artists—whether it’s giving them a platform to present their latest works and innovations during our public events and live streams, offering the training and educational opportunities they’re looking for to better their craft, or fostering a community of like-minded and awesome individuals to support each other in their artistic endeavors. We know we’re not alone in that sentiment, which is why we’re excited that Gnomon Founder and President, Alex Alvarez, will be teaming up with the Concept Art Association to judge the first-ever Concept Art Awards!

Committed to elevating and raising the profile of concept artists, their art, and their involvement in the entertainment industries, the Concept Art Association will be hosting its inaugural Concept Art Awards as a way to showcase the below-the-line individuals working in entertainment concept art. With a total of thirty categories highlighting visual design for Live-Action, Animation, Video Games, and more, those who submit to the Awards will have the chance to be recognized by their peers and a curated panel of judges during the awards presentation on Saturday, September 7th at LightBox Expo in Pasadena, California.

In addition to Alex, the judging panel currently includes Marvel Studio’s Head of Visual Development, Ryan Meinerding; Weta Lead Character & Creature Artist, and Gnomon alumnae Krystal Sae Eua; Ubisoft Senior Concept Artist Donglu Yu; and Concept Artists Vitaly Bulgarov and Warren Holder.

The Awards are currently open for submissions, with the last call on July 8th. You can find the entire list of categories, as well as the rules for entry, here.
