2024 Spring Best of Term Winners Announced
Gnomon is thrilled to announce the winners of our Spring 2024 Best of Term (BOT) competition, showcasing the exceptional talent, commitment, and creativity of our students.
This competition recognizes the outstanding work produced by students across our full-time programs and individual courses, both online and on-campus. The latest submissions feature work across multiple disciplines including demolition effects, game character creation, 3D illustration, and traditional sculpting.
Congrats to our grand prize winner Pruthvi Prajapati, who won “Best of Term – Animation and Visual Effects" for his teaser for “Invaders.” This project is based on an original concept for a movie where Earth is being attacked by aliens and was inspired by his dream of working in the film industry.
“This project is the most challenging one I've had at Gnomon, and it's the result of a lot of hard work and dedication,” Pruthvi said. “Movies have always inspired me, driving me to keep pushing my creative limits. From the first week in Andrew Thompson's class, I committed fully to this project, knowing it would be an opportunity for me to pour everything I had into it.”
Pruthvi said that while his procedural techniques improved throughout this course, it was the art of storytelling that was the main takeaway. He learned how to tell a story through lens, bringing a narrative to life with purposeful camera movement and animation.
The Spring BOT competition saw an exceptional number of submissions. Students enter work that they created entirely during their 10-week term, demonstrating both their artistic skills and software proficiency. This term, we received several group projects, giving us an exciting look at how our students collaborate and merge their unique styles into cohesive, dynamic work.
The competition is always fierce, and we applaud all our students who submitted their work! We can’t wait to see what the next term brings and celebrate a new batch of student artists.
