We are thrilled to welcome Jeremy Ernst, Seth Hall, Izzy Cheng, Taylor Wright, Jen Huffa, and Gaige Hallman as they give us an inside look into the world of Technical Art and the essential role it plays in game development.

Through several real-world examples, our talented panel of tech artists will demonstrate how they use their creativity and technical expertise to solve problems, design stunning visuals, and create immersive experiences for players. Viewers will get a glimpse into what they do day-to-day, who they work with, and the challenges they face. 

From rigging and animation to art direction and pipeline tools, this live stream event will help you gain insight into the different sub-disciplines within Technical Art, the requirements for aspiring Tech Artists, and the resources available to get started on this career path.

Taylor Wright

Senior Technical Artist III (R&D)

Taylor has nine years of industry experience from indie to AAA, working on titles like Knights of the Old Republic Remake and Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes. He specializes in technical animation and rigging and is current a senior technical artist in R&D at Riot Games.

Seth Hall - Principle Tools & Pipeline Technical Artist

Principle Tools & Pipeline Technical Artist

Since graduating from Gnomon in 2002, Seth spent four years as a film generalist before transitioning to video games as a VFX artist in 2006. After 17 years in real-time VFX, he became a technical artist at Riot Games to build tools and improve artist workflows.

Jeremy Ernst - Technical Art Director

Technical Art Director

Jeremy has 17 years of industry experience working in technical art and has worked on titles such as VALORANT, Fortnite, Paragon, and games in the Gears of War series. His specialties are rigging, pipeline tools, and Unreal Engine development. For the past six years, he has been at Riot Games as a Technical Art Director on Project L.

Jen Huffa - Materials & Shaders Technical Artist

Materials & Shaders Technical Artist

Jen is a Materials & Shaders Technical Artist based in Los Angeles. She specializes in node-based systems, Substance Designer, Substance Painter, & Unreal Engine. In 2022, she joined the Valorant team at Riot Games. She currently supports the development of various skin lines for Premium Content and the material creation pipeline across multiple teams. Prior to Riot Games, she was at Blizzard Entertainment.

Izzy Cheng - Senior Technical Artist

Senior Technical Artist

Izzy is a Senior Technical Artist at Riot Games. She spent three years on League of Legends before switching to her current team on an unannounced project. Izzy's favorite part of working as a Technical Artist is collaborating with all different disciplines of art to deliver the most visually appealing product for players within the technical constraints of game development. She is most proud of her work on new in-game character rigs for Ahri and Caitlyn in League of Legends.

Gaige Hallman - Technical Artist III (Tools and Pipeline)

Technical Artist III (Tools and Pipeline)

Gaige, an LA transplant, studied animation at SCAD where he started his career through a competition hosted by Cloud Imperium Games. With eight years of experience as a Technical Artist, his roles have ranged from Rigger and 3D Artist to Lead Tech Artist, where he ran character-focused content and technical implementations to pipeline development and customization. During his five years working on Star Citizen, he gained insights into large-scale international collaboration, then at Singularity 6 the foundations of development from a prototype stage startup. Today, Gaige is a part of Riot Games, where he focuses on Pipeline and Tools for the art and content teams of Valorant.
