Join us on Friday, February 16th at noon at the Dell Stage on Gnomon’s campus for a special screening of the Oscar-nominated short film “War is Over.”

We are honored to welcome filmmakers Dave Mullins, Brad Booker, and Sean Ono Lennon as they share their animated short film, inspired by the music of John and Yoko!

Following the screening, we will host a conversation moderated by filmmaker and Gnomon instructor Miguel Ortega. Attendees will get to know the filmmakers and hear how they crafted an emotional and compelling 11-minute film inspired by John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s timeless anti-war song, “Happy Xmas (War is Over).” We will also hold a Q&A at the end of the presentation.

Set in an alternate WWI reality where a senseless war rages on, two soldiers on opposite sides of the conflict play a game of chess. A heroic carrier pigeon delivers the soldiers’ chess moves over the battlefield as the fighting escalates. Neither soldier knows his opponent as the game and the war builds to its climactic final move. Whoever wins the game, one thing is for certain: there are no winners in war.

The film is written and directed by 20-year Pixar alum and Oscar®-nominee, Dave Mullins and Produced by Golden Globe®-Nominee, Brad Booker. Sean Ono Lennon and Yoko Ono serve as Executive Producers. Animation was produced by Peter Jackson’s Wētā FX using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. The score was written by 15-time Oscar®-nominated composer, Thomas Newman.

Please Note: this is a daytime event, and the screening will only be shown for those who attend in person at 12:00 pm (doors open at 11:30 am). We will begin the livestream at approximately 12:15 pm, which will include a presentation and Q&A but not the screening. Convenient, free parking is available at the Echelon Television Center Complex on Romaine Street. RSVP now to secure your spot and access exclusive Dell discounts thanks to our event sponsor!
