We’re excited to welcome Director Simon Otto and VFX Supervisor Doug Ikeler to the Gnomon YouTube and Twitch channels for a live discussion about how they brought this holiday story to life.
"That Christmas", based on the beloved children's books by Richard Curtis, follows a series of intertwined tales about family, love, loneliness, and a very big mistake by Santa Claus—along with a massive turkey mishap. This festive comedy marks Curtis' first foray into animation, with Otto making his directorial debut. Don’t miss this opportunity to dive into the making of "That Christmas", where Simon and Doug will share insights into the production, animation techniques, storytelling, workflows, and more.
The livestream-only event will be moderated by Gnomon’s Animation Education Lead, Mauricio Hoffman, who brings his expertise in animation education to the conversation. We will also host a live Q&A at the end, where you’ll have the chance to ask Simon and Doug your questions and learn even more about the creative process behind this animated film.
Be sure to watch "That Christmas", now streaming on Netflix, to experience the story before the event. RSVP for a reminder link when we go live on the Gnomon YouTube and Twitch channels!
