Calling all MCU fans! Join us on Thursday, June 8th at the Gnomon Stage for an unforgettable evening with Marvel Studios as we dive into the Phase Four world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This campus-only event will be a retrospective of the Visual Development highlights from the entire Phase Four lineup. We are thrilled to welcome five incredible panelists from Marvel Studio's esteemed visual development department: Ryan Meinerding (Head of Visual Development), Andy Park (Director of Visual Development), Jackson Sze (Visual Development Supervisor), Rodney Fuentebella (Visual Development Supervisor), and Ian Joyner (Visual Development Supervisor).
Our panel will take you behind the scenes of some of the biggest films and TV shows, showcasing concept art, shedding light on the visdev process, and offering insights into the creative journey of bringing these projects to life.
Phase 4 projects include WandaVision, Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Loki (S1), Black Widow, What If…?, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Hawkeye, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Moon Knight, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Ms. Marvel, Thor: Love & Thunder, She-Hulk, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
This event will be a great opportunity for aspiring artists to engage directly with the talented creatives who shape the visual landscape of the Marvel Universe. We will also be handing out raffle tickets for those who RSVP (following the presentation and Q&A, join us outside the stage for concept art giveaways)!

Speakers
Andy Park
Director of Visual Development
Andy studied Art/Illustration at both UCLA and the Art Center College of Design. His career began as a comic-book artist, fulfilling a childhood dream, illustrating such titles as Tomb Raider, Excalibur, and Uncanny X-Men for companies like Marvel, DC, and Image Comics, among others. After a decade in the comic book industry, he began working as a concept artist in video games. He was one of the leading artists designing the worlds and fantastical characters/creatures of the award-winning God of War video game franchise for Sony Computer Entertainment of America. Park joined Marvel Studios in 2010, designing characters and keyframe illustrations for The Avengers, and has worked on almost all of the Marvel Studios films since. Park was promoted to Director of Visual Development in 2015 and has led the department’s work on Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Ant-Man and The Wasp, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, WandaVision, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Thor: Love and Thunder, The Marvels, Ant-Man, and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3.
Jackson Sze
Visual Development Supervisor
Jackson has worked in advertising, video games, television, and film for studios such as Lucasfilm Animation and Sony Computer Entertainment of America. Having been a Senior Illustrator at Marvel Studios for more than a decade, he now supervises Marvel Studios projects on Disney+ including Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Secret Invasion, and Loki (Season 2). His other credits include Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Marvel Studios' Avengers films, Guardians of the Galaxy (Volumes 1-3), Black Panther, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, WandaVision, Moon Knight, and more.
Rodney Fuentebella
Visual Development Supervisor
Rodney has degrees in design from UCLA and product design from ArtCenter College of Design. Born in the Philippines and raised in San Francisco, he has worked on various projects for Electronic Arts, Atari, DreamWorks Animation, and WIRED magazine, as well as various entertainment and commercial projects. In film, he worked as a concept artist at Rhythm and Hues before joining the Visual Development team at Marvel Studios. Fuentebella has created key-art illustrations and character designs for many MCU titles, including Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel’s The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, Hawkeye, and for many upcoming MCU films and Disney+ series.
Ian Joyner
Visual Development Supervisor
Ian has been working in the industry for over 20 years on film, TV commercials, and game projects, as well as teaching and giving lectures around the world. In 2019, he joined full time with Marvel Studios as a Visual Development Supervisor/Senior Illustrator with credits including Werewolf By Night, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Ant-Man and The Wasp (to name a few). When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Hilary, and their two children, Emily and Alice.
Jana Schirmer
Visual Development Supervisor
Jana Schirmer is a German artist who was born in Cologne and lived in Berlin, before moving to sunny California. Since she was a small child she always loved to draw and paint, but after being rejected by art school, she decided to become a self-taught artist. Before joining the Marvel Studios team, Jana was a freelance illustrator and concept artist working mostly on video games and trading card games, as well as teaching at art workshops all around the globe. Jana’s Marvel Studios credits include Black Widow, WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, Thor: Love and Thunder, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and more.
